ABOUT SHAWN

For over two decades, Shawn Tempesta has been a television and radio host with on-air and billing results to show for it. Today, Shawn is the host and executive producer of “Aimee+Shawn” on 102.7 VGS in Las Vegas.

Hosting shows for several radio and television stations across the country and consulting countless more, Shawn has an eye to the future of the medium and how old media can compete in a new media landscape using video and social media.

He has donated his time to multiple charities, emceeing countless events and raising over $40,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over several Twitch livestreams.

Shawn is engaged to the love of his life Sammi and has two incredible boys – Colin and Mario.

MORNING RADIO HOST

Growing up in Boston, Shawn grew up listening to the greats from Matty In The Morning to Opie & Anthony and everything in between. He had a great appreciation for content radio, and had his sights trained on his shot at proving himself.

After years of patiently waiting for his early wake-up, he got the chance to develop a morning show and brand image for the all-new 102.7 VGS in Las Vegas. Getting a chance to craft not only a brand new show, but a brand new station’s image was an opportunity that he could not pass up.

One Year Of Aimee+Shawn

“Aimee+Shawn” faced major competition from Shawn’s market-leading former station, Mix 94.1. Inheriting a brutal 20th place W25-54 was a major risk. But they were able to take the show to the first place in less than a year with TSL that doubled their competitor.

Carefully crafted clocks, benchmarks that make their mark and a perfectly contrasting personality to other products helped the show become a major player in the market.

The show prides itself on being perfectly imperfect and beyond sincere, with listeners following the show and their lives every morning.

ANY FORMAT.DAYPART.

Prior to launching “Aimee+Shawn”, Shawn was the long-time afternoon host and APD at Las Vegas’ Mix 94.1, where he led the market in the daypart and out-trended the station in the ratings.

More than any other medium, Shawn believes that radio has the incredible ability to connect with people and make an impact. He has been heard on stations across the country including the legendary Mix 104.1 and Magic 106.7 in Boston.

A FACE FOR RADIO… AND TV

Propped in front of his small black and white TV in the Everett projects, Shawn realized quickly his love for television. He entered public access at 8 years old and starting his own show as a teenager. No digital anything. No selfie sticks. Heavy cameras, hard work, and tape to tape.

He went on to launch “The Rhode Show” on Providence, Rhode Island’s FOX affiliate in 2009. Shawn served as the in-field reporter for the daily lifestyle and entertainment sales integration show. From giving away $1,000,000 to helping calm the nerves of clients to getting behind the scenes of America’s biggest television shows like “American Idol” and “Wheel Of Fortune”, Shawn’s work earned him a New England Emmy Award nomination for Best Host.

In 2010, Shawn went to Las Vegas to launch another show, “Las Vegas Morning Blend” on KTNV-13 (ABC). For 12 years, Shawn served as the show’s co-host, interviewing everyone from Mike Tyson to Justin Bieber. The Las Vegas-Review Journal proclaimed Shawn “outreeges Reege” – in reference to the legendary Regis Philbin.

His work earned him a Pacific Southwest Emmy Award nomination for Best Host. He was also named one of Las Vegas’ Top 100 Men by MyVegas Magazine.

Shawn has also been a feature reporter for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority’s “Vegas On” web series.

READY FOR NEW MEDIA

While hosting the afternoon show at Mix 94.1, Shawn invested $15,000 of his own money to develop a daily talk show that would air on the station’s Facebook page concurrently with his music-intensive radio program.

“Free4All” launched in 2019 and was a “show within a show,” serving the station’s digital audience with entertaining stories, exclusive interviews and a morning show type atmosphere – concurrently alongside his top-rated music intensive afternoon show.

When COVID hit, the show was poised to keep listeners connected while they hunkered at home.

Inviting several celebrity guests and listeners alike to take part, the show grew a cult following. Playing game shows for highly-devalued Vietnamese Dong, super serving the show’s automotive sponsor that the show’s viewers went on to buy several cars from the dealership and more.

Over eight Twitch shows, “Free4All” would go on to raise over $40,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with creative, challenge based gamification of fundraising.

MAJOR DIGITAL RESULT$

Shawn has taken his knowledge of implementing cameras into the radio space to help several stations and brands throughout the country design video systems that help increase the station’s digital reach, while making added (and sometimes considerable) digital revenue at the same time.

He has helped develop and install systems and train talent on how to do what he did and maximize the content they are already producing. Helping stations like Kiss 95.1 in Charlotte and 92.5 XTU in Philadelphia “Squeeze the juice” and get everything out of the work they are already putting in.

One station in particular – Boston’s 98-5 The Sports Hub – was able to drastically expand its digital reach. Using Shawn’s system and training, the station was able to grow from zero YouTube revenue to six-figure yearly passive revenue – all without having to hire a single new staff member.

Shawn’s video work can be seen nationwide and is widely considered to among the best in the nation, hosting panels on the art of video for radio at several Morning Show Boot Camp events.

His video work expands to his endorsements. In a series produced for Chapman Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, Shawn self-produced that put the spotlight on the brand’s automobiles. The series would feature full walk-arounds of the car’s features, featuring sweeping and cinematic drone shots, creative GoPro mounting, and story-telling that kept the brand hooked as an endorser for many years.

His video work expands to helping other station’s improve their “visual imaging” with his company “Hit The Post”, producing television commercials and social media video designs for some of the country’s premiere radio brands.

He has the gift of compelling story-telling, a passion for radio, and a creative mind that is always looking for next thing to learn and master. He has and continues to be at the forefront of technology and social media. If you are looking to align with someone that has unbridled energy, honest passion, and above all is just a good human, then look to find a way to collaborate with this man.

Shawn goes out of his way to make everyone who appears on the show feel like a star… He’s the on-air glue that holds a show together. Shawn shows tremendous respect for the people he works with and people he comes in contact with outside the station.

Shawn is one of the most creative on-air talent I’ve ever worked with… It is hard to imagine doing the show without him.

Tempesta out-Reeges Reege. Hyperactive as a puppy on a sugar high, Tempesta is just as amusing… flashing a smile that threatens to fracture his face.
