While I would love to say I am some sort of poker God, I am more of a fraud. I’ve gotten lucky in home games, and once (once) in a tournament at the Silverton Casino in 2007. But that’s it. My poker history is littered with losses and lucky dogs across from me sucking out on the river.

That said, occasionally I catch a break.

I was thrilled to be invited to play in WSOP.com’s “Battle Of The Local TV Stars” at the World Series Of Poker inside the Rio, with the winner getting $5,000 donated to the charity of their choice. Alongside me at the table? Fox 5‘s sports guy Jon Castignino, as well as News 3‘s Jessica Moore and Jim Snyder.

FI WSOP Competitors 2014

It was a well fought battle…

Alright, it was a train wreck. I’m willing to bet all of us hadn’t played a legitimate poker game in quite a while. Alas, luckily the cards came to me at the table and I was able to take home the prize check! The real check went to a cause near and dear to my heart – International Rett Syndrome Foundation – who are an incredible organization dedicated to educating the public and finding a cure for the syndrome my twin nieces Ava and Juliana have.

Watch. They’ll do it next year, and I’ll lose first hand. That’s just the way it goes.

A big thank you to Monika Bertaki and everyone at WSOP.com and Caesars for inviting me to take part!
